Light Replacement Project Update for Traditions Homeowners

Dear Traditions Homeowners,

I hope this message finds you well! I wanted to provide an update on the light replacement project on the esplanade, which I know many of you have eagerly anticipated.

As good stewards of the neighborhood’s financials, we’ve carefully approached this project. Earlier this year, we asked for a special assessment of $100 per homeowner. We needed to ensure the funds were fully available, and we carefully reviewed options, bids, and total expenses before committing to the total project costs.

Last month, your board members demonstrated their unwavering commitment to this project by personally removing two of the eight light poles, ensuring the concrete pads poured decades ago would sufficiently support the new light poles. This extra precaution, taken with our community’s best interests in mind, will ensure a smooth installation process.

We’re thrilled to share that we will order the new lights from Mel Northey Company, Inc. next week. While it may take 6-8 weeks for the lights to become available, we’re excited to let you know that our board members will personally be picking them up to save on delivery costs. This cost-saving measure is just one example of our commitment.

Once the lights are ready, we will work closely with a certified electrician to complete the installation. We anticipate having the lights beautifully illuminate the esplanade before the holidays, and the project is expected to be completed by December 1, 2024.

These new lights will enhance the beauty of our neighborhood and improve safety and visibility. We appreciate your patience and understanding throughout this process. Your financial contribution of $100 per homeowner has been instrumental in making this project a reality, and we are truly grateful for your support. We remain fully committed to completing this project in a way that enhances our community while being mindful of our resources. Your continued support is crucial, and we thank you for it.

Warmest regards,
Kellie Ranum Copeland

Jan 2023 – New beginnings.

Dear Traditions Home Owners,

Hello 2023! New years tradtions revolve around making changes and resolutions. I know I have made some for myself. Now the challenge is to stick with it.

2022 was a whirlwind. I am not real sure how to sum it all up, so I don’t think I am going to bother. After all….that is the “old” and 2023 is the “new”. I hope that everyone and their families are doing well and that 2023 will be all everyone is hoping for.

In with the new…Goodbye 2022!

May 2021 – Eventful year

Dear Traditions Home Owners,

As we exit the month of May, we have come full circle. After an already eventful 2021 with record setting storms in February causing massive damages and loss of power state wide to the more localized hail event in April that again damaged many homes right here in our neighborhood, we now enter hurricane season.

The Atlantic hurricane season extends from June 1 through November 30.

2021 Hurricane Prediction

For 2021, a likely range of 13 to 20 named storms (winds of 39 mph or higher), of which 6 to 10 could become hurricanes (winds of 74 mph or higher), including 3 to 5 major hurricanes (category 3, 4 or 5; with winds of 111 mph or higher) is expected. NOAA provides these ranges with a 70% confidence.

Make a plan

The time to prepare for a hurricane is before the season begins, when you have the time and are not under pressure. If you wait until a hurricane is on your doorstep, the odds are that you will be under duress and will make the wrong decisions. Take the time now to write down your hurricane plan. Know who issues evacuation orders for your area, determine locations on where you will ride out the storm, and start to get your supplies now.  Being prepared before a hurricane threatens makes you resilient to the hurricane impacts of wind and water. It will mean the difference between being a hurricane victim or a hurricane survivor.

Visit the National Hurricane Preparedness site for more information.

Stay safe and be prepared.

April 2021 – Spring storms

Dear Traditions Home Owners,

Spring storms in Texas often bring damaging winds and hail, which inevitably leads to roof or home damage. When we experience an event, you should schedule a consultation with an established company. Often times, the ones that walk the neighborhood are not that. Do your homework on any company before you agree to any terms or work.

Also, whichever company you elect to go with, remind them that we are a no soliciting community. If your neighbors approach you or them for a recommendation or consultation, great. The company is not allowed to go door to door looking for “other work in the neighborhood”.   They should be respectful of the HOA rules regarding debris and site cleanup as well.

Please also remember to submit your home approval documents by using the “Contact Us” form on the site and requesting an approval form as required prior to beginning any construction. Any construction started without approval from the HOA can result in fines.

Thank you and be safe.

Feb 2021 – Snow-meggedon!

Dear Traditions Home Owners,

I hope everyone and their families are safe and healthy after this unprecidented freezing weather event. I know many may need assistance with repairs and clean up. Feel free to contact me directly at 281-635-5172. You may need to leave a voicemail as my phone filters callers I don’t have in my contacts.

Also, I want to make sure everyone knows that we have a plumber living in the subdivision. He is overworked and busy as they all are, but I am sure he would get to you ASAP.

Stay safe and be sure to look out for your neighbors and friends as the warmer weather sets in and we all recover from this.

Thanks.

Scott

Nov 2020 – Season Greetings

Dear Traditions Home Owners,

The holiday season is here and so is the merriment of hanging lights and placing seasonal décor to spread joy throughout our neighborhood. To celebrate the season we’re inviting your family (kids) to hang an ornament from the Traditions Tree at the esplanade with the small cable ties provided at the mailbox house.

Deck the halls and happy decorating!

July 2020 – Unacceptable

Hello Traditions,

We must all be doing our part to curtail this pandemic. I am not going to get into the politics, statistics, or opinions (there are already plenty of those).  I would like to think that we can all agree that PEOPLE ARE DYING.  All ages, gender, ethnicity, religions and social status.

  1. Stay home. Social distancing is hard, but it saves lives and reduces the strain on our medical assets.
  2. Wear a mask. Wearing a mask has proven time and again to slow/prevent the spread of COVID-19.
  3. Sanitize your hands.
  4. Don’t touch your face.

Here is the rub.  Hospitals say they are becoming over crowded quickly.  Soon people with not only Covid, but cancer, or in a car accident, will not be able to get into a hospital and get possibly life saving care when needed.  Unacceptable.

All lives matter. We all need to be doing our part to ensure the health and well being of every human on earth.  Step away from the rest of the discussion and rants.  We are all members of the human race….and the most unavoidable and undeniable fact of all of this…PEOPLE ARE DYING.  Unacceptable.
